Farming has been a tradition for generations in the Barkman family. In 2020, Darren and Brian Barkman founded TrueFood, a hydroponic farming company dedicated to providing clean, tasty produce. Darren, an experienced hydroponic farmer, manages their advanced greenhouse in Stanton, Iowa, using natural practices like ladybugs for pest control. TrueFood supplies to local grocery stores, restaurants, schools, hospital and farmers markets. They plan to expand opening more greenhouses across the United States, while still maintaining a commitment to local communities.

Whitetail Valley 

Whitetail Valley, a family farm in Stanton, Iowa, offers a variety of activities and products including fruit wines made from their own apples using traditional Swiss methods. A new winery building is currently under construction to enhance their wine production and visitor experience. The farm features an orchard with over 60 varieties of fruit trees grown sustainably and Grampaw’s Punkin Patch, which sells pumpkins, melons, squash and gourds. Visitors are welcome by appointment to enjoy the farm’s offerings and scenic beauty.
